Creating awareness of Fire Police in New Zealand |
In most cases, the New Zealand public generally have no knowledge that there is such a thing as Fire Police or Operational Support in New Zealand. It's quite surprising considering that these units are out there in the public eye on a regular basis, keeping their communities safe at Fire and Rescue incidents.
Infact, the Fire Police and Operational Support members are quite often the first ones that the public come across at these incidents - maintaining road closures and diversions, as well as crowd control and public safety. Unfortunately, there is very little awareness of the work that these teams of volunteer members contribute to the Fire Service, as well as their local communities.
The New Zealand Fire Police website was built to create an awareness, and provide information to the public about Fire Police and Operational Support units around the country. It also provides a background on each of the Fire Police / Operational Support units, as well as their contact details for people wishing to join their local unit.
Many thanks to all of the units around the country that provided their details, and have given so much support to create firepolice.co.nz. We now have over 50 Fire Police / Operational Support units listed. Extra special thanks to Mark Foster and Nigel Capon for their help.

Being a Fire Police constable can be very rewarding. If you are interested in joining the Fire Police, locate your nearest Unit in the menu, then contact the recruitment Officer. |
