| Alexandra Operational Support |
The Alexandra Volunteer Fire Brigade was established in 1903. There was a Fire Police unit in the mid 70's which went into recess until the Operational Support unit was established in 1990 with 6 members. Current manning level is 8. The members are a split of experienced former firefighters and new members to the brigade. The Support unit attend most callouts providing traffic and site safety as well as lighting so the fire fighters can go about their job safely at motor accidents and fires. Calls of note are the big Alexandra floods of 1995 and 1999, also the Alexandra fires of 1999. The brigade was involved for 2 to 3 days at each of these calls.
