| Beachlands Fire Police |
The Beachlands Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed in September 1955.
Today they have a modern fire station housing two appliances and a van
operated by Fire Police and Fire Support Personnel. The brigade cover an area
comprising of Whitford, Beachlands, Maraetai and along the coast to Duders
Beach, and are also often called to assist other neighbouring Brigades.
Being in a non-reticulated area with a population of over 5,500 (and
growing) they are backed up by Howick and Otara paid staff.
Risks include Whitford Forest, Pine Harbour Marina, and Formosa Country Club.
Beachlands Volunteer Fire Brigade attend an average of 70 - 80 calls per
year, membership stands at 22 including 3 Fire Police who have been
operating within the brigade since early 1990.
