Mangonui Fire Police was founded in the early 70's, predominantly as a supporting role for their operational staff - traffic control and security. The unit is situated at Mangonui, east coast of Doubtless Bay, they have their own dedicated response vehicle, and currently have 4 members. Lately there has been a large population increase in the area, due to the desirability of sandy beaches and warm climate, increasing their work load and station call outs.
