| Matamata Fire Police |
It is believed that the Matamata Fire Brigade were the first in the country to ever have Fire Police in New Zealand, and the unit has been continually active since the brigade was established. The Matamata Fire Police are responsible for traffic control and crowd control at fires and any other assistance they can provide the brigade at incidents. They cover the same call out area as the brigade which is half way to Morrinsville, Te Aroha, Cambridge, Tauranga and Tirau. The Fire Police members train with the brigade every week.
