| Titirangi Fire Police |
The Titirangi Fire brigade was formed in 1949 and the Fire Police members have always been an important part of the Brigade. Over the years they have provided coverage to Titirangi and a large part of West Auckland including Laingholm, Waiatarua and Piha and were known as the Titirangi Fire Police Corps or Titirangi Fire Police Unit.
These days the members primarily cover the Titirangi first pump response zone.
Titirangi has a rather unique area and landscape with bush clad hills and lots of narrow winding roads - which can mean that even relatively minor fire calls can require Fire Police attendance for traffic control.
As well as traffic management, the members assist the Brigade with administration and training duties and on the fireground with duties such as salvage, lighting, first aid & communications.
