| Wainuiomata Fire Police |
The Wainuiomata Fire Police unit has been operating for nearly as long as the brigade (63 years) with 2-3 members. About 10 years ago there was a recruitment drive, which swelled the numbers to 14. Over time this number has dropped to 7. The unit looks after the entire Wainuiomata district, urban and rural, and are mostly required to manage traffic control, crowd control, and scene guard duties. Last year the unit purchased a generator to supply lighting for the fire brigade. All of the equipment is transported in a trailer which they purchased this year, and is towed by their response vehicle - Wainuiomata 4426.
