Responding to every firecall in it's area, the Whitianga Fire Police unit keep very active attending several hundred calls a year. The local population of 5,000 often swells to over 35,000 in the summer keeping the Fire Police very busy. Whitianga 5929 is the dedicated response van - a 1999 Ford Transit. The brigade has been running for 55 years in Whitianga, and currently has 7 Fire Police members.
